Challenge: The existing PeopleGrove platform wasn't optimized for mobile users, creating friction for students who needed to network and find mentors on-the-go between classes. My Approach: Conducted user interviews with 3+ WGU students to understand needs, behaviors, and pain points Created detailed user persona and empathy map to guide design decisions Developed user journey map identifying key touchpoints and opportunities for improvement Designed mobile wireframes optimizing navigation, search functionality, and content flow Built low-fidelity prototype and conducted usability testing with 5 participants Results: 80% reduction in time to complete key tasks (searching for mentors) 100% task completion rate in usability testing (up from 60% in current version) System Usability Scale (SUS) score of 82.5 ("Excellent" rating) All participants preferred redesigned experience over current mobile interface
